Kazakh Gala Concert Programme
Monday 15th December, 2008 at 7.30 pm
Programme will include:
FROM KAZAKHSTAN: Operatic Arias and Songs
BEETHOVEN: Triple Concerto in C major, Op. 56
TCHAIKOVSKY: Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36
Marius Stravinsky will be in his element directing the everpopular fourth symphony by
Tchaikovsky in the climax to this concert held to mark the 17th anniversary of Kazakhstan as an
independent nation. Kazakh-born Stravinsky is Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Karelia Philharmonic Orchestra which is marking its 75th anniversary with a series of European tours.
He is joined by Kazakhstan’s finest soprano Maira Kerey, a regular on French and American opera stages; by renowned Kazakh musician, Eleonora Bekova, pianist of the legendary Bekova piano trio; and by Kairzhan Zholdybayev, Kazakhstan’s
famous lyric tenor, winner of many international competitions and now the principal soloist of
Krefeld & Monchengladbach Cities Consolidated Theatre in Germany.
This Gala concert will also see the London debuts by guests cellist Sergey Antonov, Gold Medal winner of the 2007 Tchaikovsky Cello Competition
and violinist Nikita Borisoglebsky, Silver Medal
winner of the 2007 Tchaikovsky Violin Competition.

KazSociety is offering special discount tickets for students but there will only be 50 of them which will cost 8 pounds. So if you want to buy those tickets you have to email us the confirmation of your attendance. (kazsociety@gmail.com) And then you can pay and collect tickets at the entrance on the day.
